This guide provides guidance on how to upgrade a Raspberry Pi (RPi) from Debian 11 (Bullseye) to Debian 12 (Bookworm). You can run your core node without shutting it down during the upgrade. It is, however, recommended to shut down the core node and nodemon during the upgrade. The upgrade should take about 30 minutes.

Check to make sure you have at least 150 GB of storage on your RPi. If not, you will need to add storage your RPi.

1.1. - Login to the Rpi as root or nrgstaker. Either of the accounts can be used for the upgrade.

1.2. - Update apt packages.

sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade -y
sudo apt dist-upgrade

1.3. - Upgrade the Raspberry Pi firmware.

sudo rpi-update

1.4. - Edit source list

sudo sed -i "s/bullseye/bookworm/g" /etc/apt/sources.list

1.5. - Update all packages from bullseye to bookworm

sudo apt update
sudo apt dist-upgrade
sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade -y
sudo apt autoremove -y && sudo apt autoclean -y

1.6. - Reboot to apply changes
